"The real voyage of discovery consists not in seeking new lands but seeing with new eyes."
- Marcel Proust
As a therapist, I work collaboratively to explore and expand your vision of yourself in love, work, and play. Together we develop a dialogue that helps you nurture deeper, more connected relationships and live a confident and creative life. My services include intensive psychoanalytic therapy, as well as psychotherapy for children, adolescents, adults and couples.
In 1983, I received a Bachelors Degree in Creative Arts Therapy from Northwestern University. Subsequently, in 1987 I earned a Masters Degree in Clinical Social Work from Columbia University and an additional Masters Degree in Special Education and Early Childhood from Bank Street College of Education. During that time I earned internships to train at the Mt. Sinai Adolescent Health Center and Jewish Family Service.
I have worked in both In-Patient and Out-Patient Adolescent Health, private practice for 25 years, and was a full-time parent for ten years. I have completed 5 years of post-graduate studies at the Oregon Psychoanalytic Institute in the Adult Psychoanalysis program and continue with additional accredited training in diverse areas of mental health including eating disorders, couples therapy and interpersonal neurobiology.
As the founder of PdxParenting and the creator of “Kids Who Feel Smart," I am dedicated to bringing the most current understanding of interpersonal neurobiology to affordable parent education. My decade long experience as a full-time parent strengthened my ability to offer individualized and practical strategies to help parents find what works for their unique family.
